THE HOGARTH VELO’S 2009 CYCLING SEASON
By Terry Rodham (Group Health & Fitness Manager)

Hello again and welcome to the 2009 Velo season. After a very challenging and of course enjoyable season last year, we have even more to look forward to and prepare our bodies for this year!

Now spring is upon us and weather conditions are slowly improving, it is now time to clear out the clutter that’s been stored on top of your bike which has been hibernating in the garden shed all winter – dust it down, oil the bits that need oiling, on you get and off you go!

With some mid-week rides already under some of our belts, the organised weekend Richmond Park or Surrey Hills ventures will soon be calling so please feel free to join us. For those of you who prefer the “shorter sharper” stuff then why not sign yourself up for any of the very well organised time trials on the circuit this year. These time trials are not for the faint hearted so check them out at www.hillingdontriathletes.co.uk before you sign on the dotted line!

What I would like to do is create an updated Velo contact list so for those of you who are interested or those of you who have changed email address, please email me with your contact details and any questions you may have. My contact details are terry@thehogarth.co.uk and I will be more than happy to help and also provide you with regular updates throughout the season.

Traditionally the Velo’s “competitive” season kicks off with the fantastic Isle of Wight Randonee which takes place on Sunday 3 May (see details on display board or go to www.cycleisland.co.uk

This ride really is a great experience and is suitable for beginner’s right through to the experienced rider. Please be aware that if anybody is planning to make a weekend of this event, accommodation does get booked up early so it is worth sorting sooner rather than later.

There are lots of rides/events over the coming season which take place all over our country that you will find displayed on this page as well as the Hogarth Velo's Notice Baord in the gymnasium. My goal is to enter several of them as a team – The Hogarth Velo’s.

Not forgetting of course the traditional annual race in the French Alps, Time Megeve. This will be our third successive year and this year’s bookings and arrangements are already underway – can’t wait! These details can be found at www.velo101.com

Happy Cycling!
